Environment, economy and spirituality become one

We must achieve a true sustainable development that allows our generation to satisfy its needs without sacrificing future generations, said Alfredo Sfeir-Younis, environmental economist and spiritual leader.

Last Tuesday, November 6, Fundación la Tortuga opened its doors for a conversation with the outstanding environmental economist and Lama Master Alfredo Sfeir-Younis, who presented his talk on the Spiritual and Economic Foundations of Sustainable Development.

Alfredo Sfeir-Younis opened the talk by telling certain anecdotes as a former World Bank Economist and how his hard work has been in terms of generating awareness regarding environmental care, in turn, the Master shared his challenge to unite spirituality, with economics and environmental care as one, where we can achieve a truly sustainable development, which allows our generation to meet their needs without sacrificing future generations.

"We must recognize the rights of the earth" said the economist, referring to the fact that we must protect and defend our nature, since global warming is a reality that is affecting us all, where he took the opportunity to encourage the attendees to take to the streets to defend environmental projects, since in the past and current economic issues have been considered more important than our nature.

The talk lasted an hour and a half, where attendees were able to interact with the Economist and ask questions, ending with an hour of guided meditation, where the Master made the attendees pronounce Mantras to support the meditation.
