Fundación la Tortuga, once again complying with one of the objectives of the training and environmental awareness program: "it’s not garbage, it’s materials", carried out the project "Climate control of the meeting hall" in the Fishermen’s Village of Lechería, applying the 3Rs environmental and generating a social, responsible and intelligent change with the environment.

The activity lasted 120 hours and was carried out with the collaboration of the students of Civil Engineering of the Universidad de Oriente. Currently, about 20 children are being directly benefited with the use of the recovered space and with the materials found in the surrounding area, specifically plastic lids of all colors. Hanging vegetable gardens with ornamental plants were also created using soda bottles for decoration and to give more life to the site.

We are proud to say that all the children were so inspired that they did not miss the opportunity to follow each process in the creation of the curtains with plastic caps, learning to value the materials that are normally discarded at home, using them in a creative and fun way. From a very young age, acquiring a responsible behavior with the environment.

The population of this popular sector has about 200 inhabitants of scarce economic resources, but full of confidence, creativity, showing their unconditional support, willingness to learn and help in every activity with hope and dreams that it is necessary to live in a more environmentally conscious world.
