On February 17, 2005, this organization was legally born to contribute to the conservation and protection of nature, with an emphasis on marine-coastal ecosystems, the preferred areas to develop almost all the projects it has worked on.

Always surrounded by academic experts and sensitive volunteers, La Tortuga Foundation has developed its work and continues to do so, gathering basic information and disseminating environmental awareness messages to the theturtlefoundation, using formal or informal educational tools in schools, businesses, streets, beaches or any area where it can be found.

With its headquarters located in the Urbaneja Municipality of Anzoátegui State, its work has taken it to several distant geographical areas, such as La Tortuga Island or the Cuare Reserve, where important findings were able to raise opinions in the search for solutions to the problems encountered. Today, part of its efforts are located in the coastal area of Anzoátegui, including Mochima National Park, where it has been carrying out a study of sea turtle populations (RAO Anzoátegui) and the Recycling Pilot Program for the past three years, both with important figures in terms of the number of populations reached and monitoring.

The importance of reaching the largest number of people led it to develop since 2009 the Ambientarrrt Program, a form of non-formal education that seeks, through the arts, to raise awareness among people about environmental issues and their responsibility for the sustainability of the planet. With exhibitions, catwalks, reuse workshops, dance, theater, cinema and health, it brings to sectors of the population that like this type of activities the calls to preserve the natural environment.

Activities such as the beach cleanups that are carried out every time the opportunity arises, accumulating tons of waste that are removed from the coasts every year, cannot be left aside.

The Board of Directors, close members, allied researchers and sensitive volunteers are jubilant for this birthday that marks a milestone in the culture and environmental work of the country because, despite the economic difficulties, this organization has been able to keep doing activities that call people to participate and to want to take care of nature.

For all of us at the birthday of Fundación La Tortuga, the call remains the same as it is now... we are part of nature, not its owners...
