Donation Delivery to Warao Community

It does not matter to which culture one belongs, nor the place of origin, nor the distances that separate us, those simple references pass to a second plane when the legitimate desire to help and contribute effectively to the welfare of the community and its environment are manifested in the hearts of the people and their heartbeats echo in the Earth.

On July 7th, the young volunteers of La Tortuga Foundation Cristina Malavé J., Gabriel Marsalan S., Celideth Borges, and Amilcar Zubiria undertook a trip from the city of Lechería, headquarters of the Foundation, to the Warao Indigenous Community in El Moriche (Orinoco Delta) with valuable help in their saddlebags.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Canaima CPH Association, based in Denmark, it was possible to coordinate this day of help in which a series of vitally important supplies were donated, such as clothes for children, school supplies and toys, items that sometimes due to the distance and economic difficulties, are very difficult to get to these communities where not infrequently there are multiple shortages. Mrs. Mayashita Palacios, representative of the community, affectionately received the volunteers and carried out the necessary logistics to deliver the items.

The Ambientarrrt Program of La Tortuga Foundation is executing the project "Indigenous Connection" through which it seeks to ensure that this Warao community does not lose its ancestral culture. The idea is to help them overcome their many problems and shortages without this meaning the exodus to other lands by its members, or acquiring habits that take them away from their ancestors, their wisdom, their customs.
