Last Saturday, August 2nd, environmental conservation acquired a new form when students of the tenth semester of Social Communication of the Universidad Santa María Núcleo Oriente, combined ecology with sports to carry out the I Pro-environmental Walk, in benefit of La Tortuga Foundation.

Starting at 7:00 a.m., about 60 people, including athletes, family and friends, gathered to walk in pairs the three kilometers planned for the competition, from the Plaza Mayor Shopping Center to Lido Beach, in Lechería.

With this initiative, the group of upcoming professionals formed by Sarasvatti Mohamed, Vanessa Pérez, Fabiola Mugent, Lucina Hernández, Carmen Madrid and Gabriel Hernández, hope to motivate the theturtlefoundation to get closer to nature through sports activities and to actively participate in the defense of the environment.

The first place prizes for the walk were courtesy of Digitel. Second and third place prizes were awarded by Hotel Maremares and all trophies by Astro Magazine.

The proceeds will be used for the scientific studies that La Tortuga Foundation carries out in the marine-coastal areas of the country, thus giving back the profit to the same community that enjoys the areas that we all must conserve.
