Turtle March with RAO Anzoátegui
For the RAO Anzoátegui team, March was an interesting month both on land and in the water. In response to an invitation from the State’s hotel area, the "Hotel Cristina Suites" offered its spaces to share with tourists and family members staying at the hotel, the life and environmental problems that sea turtles go through.
With a previous exhibition of the most relevant aspects of this topic, an awareness talk was given where there was an opportunity to clarify any doubts, and also those present practiced good habits on the beach when meeting one of these representatives of the marine fauna.
The team also had the opportunity to share an "Encounter with Teachers" of the Dr. José Antonio Ramos Sucre Educational Unit, so that the pre-school teachers received information to work on the topic of sea turtles in the classroom, adding to these tools the reuse workshop by building their own wet seals. Subsequently, the children of this stage of education attended the meeting to learn about this reptile and to participate in the dramatization of the "Good Sea Turtle", an experience that is always well received because it gives them the opportunity to feel what it means to have a turtle close to them and to be able to work as a team to save it.
Finally, the biologist and head of the scientific area of this project gave a talk at the new headquarters of La Tortuga Foundation to a group of people interested in environmental issues. Vernet also showed the achievements of this Network until December 2013. Finally, he attended an invitation to the radio program "Siempre en Positivo" with Ángel Enrique Zambrano (Éxitos 95.3, Circuito Unión Radio).
The Red de Aviso Oportuno "RAO Anzoátegui" is a project for the protection and conservation of sea turtles in Anzoátegui and is developed thanks to the voluntary contribution of the customers of Ferreterías EPA through its program "Ayudar es Sencillo" (Helping is Easy).
