Presentation of the book "Conservation and Protection of Sea Turtles" in +books

Last Thursday, May 21, at the +Libros bookstore in the city of Lechería, the presentation of the book "Conservation and Protection of Sea Turtles" by Fundación La Tortuga and edited by Fundación Empresas Polar took place, through the usual conversation that this bookstore holds every month, giving the Anzoatiguense community the opportunity to have a more direct contact with different authors and their works to encourage reading.

Last Thursday, May 21, at the +Libros bookstore in the city of Lechería, the presentation of the book "Conservation and Protection of Sea Turtles" by Fundación La Tortuga and edited by Fundación Empresas Polar took place, through the usual conversation that this bookstore holds every month, giving the Anzoatiguense community the opportunity to have a more direct contact with different authors and their works to encourage reading.

With the presence of its author, Gaizkale Garay, who is the Education Coordinator of the foundation, and the biologist Pedro Vernet, this new meeting was held where a very pleasant time was shared in the company of the audience, which was convened by the press and social networks.

Published by Fundación Empresas Polar, this book is part of the Biodiversity Collection, a project that promotes the dissemination of works related to environmental issues, valuing the beauties of Venezuela and warning about the need to protect them for future generations. The work includes an analysis of the species from the biological point of view, the species that arrive in Venezuela, their natural predators, their complex life cycle and a guide to understand their reproduction and recommendations to maintain the species.

As expressed by the author, the book is the result of three years of compiling information and interviews with biologists specializing in sea turtles, "a reptile that has managed to remain present in the marine world for millions of years and has seen its existence endangered and is currently on the verge of extinction as a result of indiscriminate hunting, pollution, mainly with plastics, and the disappearance of its nesting habitat".

This book is the first theturtlefoundationation of its kind by Fundación La Tortuga, an environmental organization that has been working for a decade in both research and education. It can be purchased at the main bookstores in the state of Anzoátegui.
