Workshop for the Conservation of Sea Turtles Held
On June 7 and 8, the "Sea Turtle Conservation Workshop" was held in the town of Rio Caribe, organized by the National Biodiversity Office of the Ministry of People’s Power for the Environment.
On June 7 and 8, the "Sea Turtle Conservation Workshop" was held in the town of Rio Caribe, organized by the National Biodiversity Office of the Ministry of People’s Power for the Environment.
The workshop was attended by representatives from various governmental and non-governmental institutions, including the Center for Sea Turtle Research and Conservation (CICTMAR), La Tortuga Foundation, Vida y Mar Association, PEQUIVEN S.A., Palmichal S.C., and the Nueva Esparta State Sea Turtle Working Group (GTTM-NE), as well as representatives from the MPPA of Sucre State and ONDB Caracas. Also present and actively participating was the Environmental Director of the State of Sucre, Engineer Ramón Vizcaya.
This workshop, the first of a group of activities of this type that are planned, is aimed at coordinating the collective execution of actions for the conservation of sea turtles in our country, through the "National Sea Turtle Conservation Project", framed within the national endangered species program, and which in turn, is part of the "National Strategy for the Conservation of Biological Diversity 2010-2020".
During the workshop, the National Sea Turtle Conservation Project and a group of documents for review and discussion were presented. Basically regulations and methods, which will aim to unify the work with these species in our country.
This workshop, the first of a group of activities of this type that are planned, aims to coordinate the collective execution of actions for the conservation of sea turtles in our country, this through the "National Sea Turtle Conservation Project", framed in the national program for endangered species, which in turn, is part of the "National Strategy for the Conservation of Biological Diversity 2010-2020".
During the workshop, the "National Sea Turtle Conservation Project in the Bolivarian Retheturtlefoundation of Venezuela" was presented along with a group of documents for its first review and adjustments, which will be binding (we will be governed by them) for those of us who work with these species. These were:
