During the last week of June, La Tortuga Foundation with its RAO Anzoátegui Project, accompanied Fundación Empresas Polar in the celebration of the "Conservation Week", a permanent event of this organization, which seeks to provide children from the communities near its plant located in Barcelona, environmental recreational activities and thus forge the citizen of the future with more awareness and ecological sensitivity.

In six different schools in Barcelona, La Pica and Naricual, La Tortuga Foundation gave its talk on Sea Turtle Conservation to students from 4th. up to 6th. degree. They included the usual dramatization, which aims to teach the little ones good behavior in natural spaces and in this case, they are guided in how to act when witnessing an event with sea turtles on the beach. Beyond identifying species, they are told about the importance of protecting wildlife and being more responsible with the garbage generated by themselves and their families.

The week culminated with an Ecological Rally "Save the Sea Turtles", where around 60 students who had received the talk, had the opportunity to learn by playing through a circuit that had fun, exercise and many laughs. The central theme was in an imaginary sea, where sea turtles (cloth) were trapped in plastic and which each team had to rescue and feed. In the end, when each group released their turtle, they were very chubby. Once the circuit was completed by all the groups, each school won a Gold Cup for its participation as a team, made with waste material. In addition, each participant also received a cartridge case with pencil, ruler and eraser, which will serve for the next school year. A very pleasant week that served to play, share and learn that... we are part of nature, not its owners.
